Earning Your CMB

All CMB candidates must accumulate 150 points from the following three categories before taking the CMB evaluation:

Professional Experience
(25-75 points)
Documented Education
(35-75 points)
Industry Participation
(25-75 points)

If you have been in the mortgage banking industry for three years or more, you may have already accumulated many of the 150 points required. Visit our CMB Point Calculator to estimate your current point balance.

The CMB Evaluation

The CMB evaluation includes a written and oral exam. The CMB Prep Courses are designed to help prepare for the CMB written exam and are offered throughout the year. These six-week instructor-led web-based courses are led by Certified Mortgage Banker designees.

Choosing Your Path

There are three CMB designations:

Residential
Commercial
Master

The Master designation is available to those who have already attained Residential or Commercial CMB status. All CMBs are recognized as members of a select group of influential leaders within the mortgage banking industry.
