Residential Underwriting Certificate and Designation Program

Welcome to the Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU) Program. The curriculum for this designation is progressive and comprised of three levels. The first two levels the achievement certificate and professional certificate lay a foundation for the final level, the CRU itself.

The progressive CRU curriculum establishes the standard for professional excellence and training in residential mortgage loan underwriting. Throughout the levels of this program, students learn tangible skills to increase accuracy in underwriting.

The program provides training to develop specific skills that contribute to reduced error rates, increased productivity, quicker decisions and ultimately improved quality. In addition to these essential skills, students gain the most current knowledge of influencing factors, such as laws, regulations and issues such as fraud.

All courses for the CRU are web-based. All courses can be accessed from anywhere, at anytime. Once enrolled in a course a student has 12 months to complete it.
