Michael Fratantoni joined the MBA in 2005. He assumed the newly created position of senior director for single-family research and economics in MBA's Research and Business Development group. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing MBA's industry measurement efforts, managing MBA research efforts, and providing research and analysis regarding policy issues of importance to the mortgage industry.

Fratantoni joined MBA from Fannie Mae where he most recently served as director of economic and policy research in Fannie Mae's Regulatory Policy division. In that position, he was responsible for providing research and analysis regarding the impact of economic, financial, and regulatory developments on Fannie Mae's business and the broader mortgage markets. Prior to that, he was a senior economist in the company's Credit Policy division where he conducted econometric analysis related to credit pricing models.

Fratantoni has also served as an adjunct professor, at Johns Hopkins, George Washington, and Georgetown universities teaching courses in economics and finance, and has published academic research in several economics and finance journals.

Fratantoni received a Ph.D. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in economics from The College of William and Mary. He is married with two sons and lives in Bethesda, MD.
