About this Course

Commercial Loan Origination 101 is an intensive, two-day course designed to guide students through the process of underwriting a commercial loan from the beginning to the preparation of documents for the approval committee. Students focus on the methods by which commercial/multifamily real estate properties generate income and are essentially valued, learning key underwrriting calculations and processes needed to underwrite a commercial real estate loan. Additionally, students learn about the most common commercial loan products. Students participate in four underwriting case studies, as well as visit a commercial property, focusing on underwriting considerations.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the various commercial property types in terms of income and value
  • Demonstrate knowledge of commercial real estate math
  • Demonstrate knowledge of commercial loan products
  • Perform underwriting of select commercial real estate properties (office, industrial and retail)
Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for commercial real estate investment analysts, underwriters, professionals with at least one year of experience or those who have successfully completed Introduction to Commercial Real Estate Finance.

Part I of the Commercial Loan Origination Series

Commercial Loan Origination 101 is part of CampusMBA's Commercial Loan Origination Series. These three courses focus on the knowledge and skills needed for successful loan origination in today's challenging commercial/multifamily market. Each course in this series includes different learning objectives targeted to loan originators with different levels of experience and knowledge. One does not need to attend all courses in the series, nor do the courses need to be attended in order. However, we do strongly encourage students to begin their studies at the level commiserate with their experience in order to ensure successful comprehension of the concepts discussed during each intensive two day session.
