Saving money is never easy. Temptations to spend are everywhere. We're bombarded with ads on TV, radio and the Internet every day. When buying a home, you will need money for a down payment and closing costs. Saving money will help. If you promise yourself that you will try to follow the rules in this lesson, you will save money and in time, your savings will grow.

The main ways to save money are to pay yourself first, pay off debts and control expenses. Click each method to learn more about how each helps you save.

Now that you have explored some ways to save, try applying these methods by creating your own savings plan. Follow the steps below to use our Savings Calculator to create an estimate for reaching a savings goal.
